To set up an IMAP account on Outlook for Mac using SSL, follow these steps:

  1. Open Outlook for Mac.
  2. Click on Outlook in the top menu bar.
  3. Select Preferences from the dropdown menu.
  4. In the Preferences window, click on Accounts.
  5. Click on the "+" button at the bottom left of the Accounts window.
  6. Select New Account.
  7. In the "Add an Account" window, enter your email address (e.g., yourname@afternorth.com) and click Continue.
  8. If Outlook tries to automatically configure the account and fails, or if you prefer manual setup, click Not Google? at the bottom.
  9. Select IMAP/POP from the options provided.
  10. Enter the following information:
    1. Email Address: yourname@afternorth.com
    2. Username: {Your email address}
    3. Password: {Your Password}
  11. Incoming Mail Server Settings (IMAP):
    1. IMAP server: mail.afternorth.com
    2. IMAP port: 993
    3. Use SSL to connect: Check the box (ensure SSL/TLS is selected)
  12. Outgoing Mail Server Settings (SMTP):
    1. SMTP server: mail.afternorth.com
    2. SMTP port: 465 or 587 (465 is standard for SSL, 587 can also be used with STARTTLS)
    3. Use SSL to connect: Check the box (ensure SSL/TLS is selected)
    4. Username: {Your email address}
    5. Password: {Your Password}
  13. In the "Outgoing server" section, make sure Override default port and Use SSL to connect are checked.
  14. Click Add Account or Done to complete the setup process.
  15. After adding the account, Outlook will attempt to connect to the server. If everything is set up correctly, your emails will start syncing.
  16. If there are any errors, double-check the server addresses, ports, and SSL settings.

Outlook should now be set up and working properly with the IMAP server.
