Disable "Not Read" notifications

For Outlook Desktop Application

  1. Open Outlook: Start by opening your Microsoft Outlook application.

  2. Go to File: Click on the File tab in the upper left corner of the screen.

  3. Options: From the sidebar that appears, select Options to open the Outlook Options dialog box.

  4. Mail Settings: In the Options dialog box, click on Mail in the list on the left side.

  5. Tracking Section: Scroll down to find the "Tracking" section. This section contains settings related to read receipts and delivery receipts.

  6. Read Receipts: Look for the option that says “For any message received that includes a read receipt request, the following responses:”. Here, you can change the setting to “Never send a response”.

  7. Apply and OK: Click OK to save your changes and close the Outlook Options dialog box.

For Outlook Web App (OWA)

  1. Log In: Open your browser, go to the Outlook Web App, and log in.

  2. Settings Gear: Click on the settings gear icon usually located at the top right corner of the page.

  3. View All Outlook Settings: At the bottom of the settings menu, click on “View all Outlook settings”.

  4. Mail Settings: Click on Mail, and then select Messages.

  5. Read Receipts: In the "Messages" settings, look for the read receipt options and set it to “Do not automatically send read receipts”.

  6. Save: Make sure to save your changes by clicking the Save button at the top of the settings pane.
