How to Set Up Your AfterNorth Email in New Outlook (IMAP)
This guide helps you set up your AfterNorth email in the new Outlook app for Windows using IMAP, since MAPI is no longer supported. It should be noted that IMAP does not sync contacts and calendar entries. If you need to sync contacts and calendar entries we highly recommend emclient.
Server Settings
- IMAP (Incoming): mail.afternorth.com, Port 995, SSL/TLS
- SMTP (Outgoing): mail.afternorth.com, Port 465, SSL/TLS
- Username: Full email address
- Authentication: Required for SMTP
Steps
- Open New Outlook. If adding an account: View > View settings > Accounts > Email accounts > Add Account.
- Enter your email and click Continue.
- If suggested accounts appear (e.g., Gmail, Yahoo), select "Other". If auto-setup fails, select Advanced Setup.
- Choose IMAP.
- Enter details:
- Incoming: mail.afternorth.com, 995, SSL/TLS
- Outgoing: mail.afternorth.com, 465, SSL/TLS
- Username: Full email
- Password: Your password Check "Requires authentication" for outgoing. Click Continue.
- Accept Microsoft prompts for sync and privacy.
- Test by sending/receiving an email.
